In a MOOD?

It didn’t matter if I was feeling anxious, disappointed, sad or overwhelmed. I wanted some quick, achievable, and fun activities that could help turn my mood around.

Moody Day Bingo it is! Cheers to taking a break from the situation, resetting, and planning for a better tomorrow.

Why these could work for you?

If there is one clean and uncluttered room in your house, make it your bedroom. Women living in a more cluttered space showed higher levels of stress hormones in this study published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. It might not be the time to tackle a big cleaning project, but a tidy nightstand and a made bed can make a huge difference for me.

Movement is medicine. I feel lifted after my heart-pumping music-driven workouts and classes. Sometimes I need to calm down and find movements that gently release my energy. I’ve incorporated just 5 minutes of yoga on my moody days. Yoga significantly reduced PTSD symptomatology, improved inflammatory markers in those with chronic low back pain, and was shown to improve learning in children. Hey, if it worked for the kids, why not for me? Hello brain power!

Pack a healthy lunch for the following day. Cupcakes are delicious, but they don’t solve problems. I feel a healthy lunch gives me the fuel to tackle whatever comes my way. I might not have my life together, but I’ll have my lunch together.

Affirmations steer me in a better direction, keep me focused and motivated to move forward. This is a fabulous article if you want to know more. Consider creating some affirmations for yourself, moody or not.

Sometimes life is going to hit you over the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.

Plan something to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be fancy. Go to a coffee shop for your latte and hit up Pinterest for an hour. Try a new workout class or visit a local beach for a early morning stroll. Make it simple, make it fun, but most important, make it for you.
